Longhorns Win The Alamo Bowl!

The University of Texas finished up its season following its national championship with a victory in The Alamo Bowl.  It had been a slightly disappointing season finishing 10-3.  The horns currently have the longest 10 wins in a season in the country.  Redshirt freshman Colt McCoy tied the NCAA touchdown record in the Alamo Bowl today.

Longhorns Lose To KSU

I cannot believe that longhorns managed to lose to KSU on Saturday. The score was 42-45. If you score 42 points then you should win the game. Your defense if you are a top-five ranked team should be able to keep your opponent from scoring 42 points. The longhorn defense got smoked is the only way to describe the game. The secondary has been suspect against Baylor and Texas Tech. They looked very good last weekend against Oklahoma State so I was very hopeful that they had turned the corner. Aaron Ross who I have given some great praises to got burned on several occasions. Colt McCoy who was on track to break the NCAA passing touchdown record got knocked in the first quarter with a shoulder stinger. He still needs two more touchdown passes to tie the record. The defense has plenty of time to heal some and regroup against A&M.

Longhorns Win a Nail Biter Against Texas Tech

All I can say is wow about last night’s UT / Texas Tech game.  I was in shock after the first quarter while I watch Tech seemingly moving the ball at will against UT’s secondary.  I do not think I have seen them burned so badly since the two UCLA during the ill-fated Makovic days.  The horns went down 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.  21 points is a whole a lot of points for a defense to give for the game much less the first quarter.  The horns finally got their offense going and scored 21 of their own points in the second quarter.  The defense allowed 10 more with the touchdown coming right at the end of the half.  The defense buckled down and shut out Tech for the rest of the game.  There were several nail-biting moments when Tech went for it on 4th down twice in the fourth quarter only to be denied both times by the longhorn defense.  The horns won the game 35-31, but it was down to the wire.

Weekend in Seguin

What a long week.  Alicia and I went to see Cowboy Mouth on Wednesday.  On Thursday night, we drove down to Seguin to my Dad’s house.  I had lunch Friday afternoon with the guys I used to work with in Seguin.  They seemed to be doing well.  It was interesting that none of them wanted to see Print Online (the application that we just launched).  Then on Friday night we went to see Covenant in San Antonio at The White Rabbit.  Before the show, I talked to one of the guys in Imperative Reaction.  (more…)

UT / Baylor Game

Alicia and I had a good, but busy weekend.  On Friday we went to see The Glory of Living which was put on by Second Thought Theatre Group.  I’ll write a formal review tomorrow or one Wednesday.  The quick review is the play was well done.  The subject matter was very disturbing and thought provoking.  Then on Saturday, we went to Austin with Alicia’s sister and brother-in-law to go the UT / Baylor game.  (more…)

Horns Win The Red River Shootout!

The longhorns closed out the game 28-10. Mack Brown has definitely gotten the Stoops. OU had won five in a row till last year. Now Mack is won two in a row against Stoops. Mack’s overall record against OU is still not good, but getting better. It stands at 3-5. Go Horns!

How ‘Bout Them Horns!

I am watching the UT / OU AKA The Red River Shootout.  The horns have completely dominated the second half.  UT scored first and led at the end of the first quarter 7-0.  Then OU buckled down and held UT to 3 and outs for the length of the second quarter.  I was nervous during halftime.  OU got the kick to open the second half.  UT held them to a punt and turned that into touchdown on the ensuing drive.  Then UT never looked back.  The score is currently 28-10.  Kudos out to redshirt freshman quarterback Colt McCoy, wideout Limas Sneed, and cornerback Aaron Ross.  The defense looked a little shaky during the second quarter and part of the third quarter.  They gave up some long pass plays, but they buckled down and have held OU to zero points and even scored one of their own TD’s on a fumbled lateral.
