Financial Books Thoughts

I was checking the market performance today on http://finance.yahoo.com and this article was one the features: http://finance.yahoo.com/columnist/article/richricher/11429. You might be familiar with the article’s author, Robert Kiyosaki. He wrote Rich Dad, Poor Dad which is one of the more popular personal finance books published. He is also seen on TV promoted his book and seminar materials. Later in the evening I was reading the finance section on fatwallet and there was a thread on the Kiyosaki article. The thread was not very kind towards Kiyosaki. This website was posted which has some very critical analysis of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I watched a portion of one his seminars while I was at the gym. It seems over simplistic and lots of clichés.

This caused me to think about the finance books I have read. I have read quite a few financial books over the years. They have ranged from simplistic, but very informative (Andrew Tobias’ The Only Investment Guide You’ll Ever Need) to unbelievable technical (Intelligent Investor). I would highly recommend The Only Investment Guide You’ll Ever Need and The Millionaire Next Door.
