Enjoyed My Day Off September 25
I had a good weekend. It started late Thursday night (really Friday morning). I had a release for work that went till about 3am, but I had a Friday off which was nice. I slept in till 11 which felt good. I got up and ran some errands. I got my tires rotated at Discount Tire and got my car fixed. Toyota issued a recall on my car for a carpet clip. The dealership washed my car which was a nice touch. After that, I went had some coffee at Dunn Bros.
That night Alicia and I went to Kitchen Dog Theatre to see a play called Fat Pig. I will be posting a review of this later. We went to Cuquita’s for dinner after the play. We both enjoyed the play a lot. After our late dinner we went home. On the way to Cuquita’s, I noticed the super Mercado across the street from the restaurant was being torn down. It looked like some cookie-cutter chain strip was going in. This is really bothersome to me. We do not need more homogenized shops in Dallas! Please get out and shop non-chains!
Saturday was not a particular exciting day. We went out and looked at carpet. My roof leaked and the carpet got stained so I would like to replace that. Carpet shopping is kind of a drag. There are a bunch of styles, a bunch of different yarn and manufacturing processes which makes it hard to comparison shop. After going to three different places, we had had enough carpet shopping for the day. I did some reading on the internet this weekend, but I came up with nothing definitive. I need to go to a few more places and get some real measurements. If anyone has any suggestions on where to buy from please let me know either through a comment or the contact me.
After carpet shopping, we came back home. I watched the UT game and installed the LP conversion kit on the grill we had gotten last weekend. UT played really well against Iowa State. The game was fairly close towards half-time, but Iowa State roughed McCoy on a 3rd and long which gave UT another set of downs. UT scored on that possession which really put UT ahead. The game got suspended due to lightening. I will have to get a report from my brother-in-law who was at the game. After the game, Alicia and I grilled on the new grill. I had wanted to grill tenderloins, but Sprouts was out of them so we got rib-eyes instead. They were very good.
We slept in some on Sunday morning and then went to yoga later that morning. It had been a couple of weeks since we had been. Wow, it was hard. I skipped 20 or so percent of the poses. It really hurt a few times. I cannot go that long between classes. I am going to try to go to a class or two in the evening this week after work. I went to the gym this morning before work. I am so not a morning person so it was hard for me. I did 45 minutes on the elliptical. I need to go for 50 to 55 minutes tomorrow. It will be good if I can go to the gym 4 or 5 times a week before work. This combined with the yoga should do me a lot of good.
Sunday afternoon was more errands. We went to Fry’s and got Alicia a very long network cable. I need to troubleshoot the jack I put a few years ago since it is on the wall her computer is up against. We went to Home Depot too. I made Chicken & Dumplings for dinner and grilled some chicken for salads during the week after a trip to Kroger.
