Alicia’s big move day is quickly approaching. We will be officially living together on Friday. We have been effectively living together for a while, but the safety net is gone on Friday. I am looking forward to it. We cleaned a bunch of empty boxes out of the attic. The trash men are definitely going to earn their money tomorrow. I hope they can get everything. I also put a disassembled computer desk out there. It will remain to be seen if they can get it. It is going to be a long weekend to get everything organized fortunately the weekend is almost completely wide open. I need to do some yoga and some cardio this weekend. I have Friday off so I will help Alicia move and hopefully get the icemaker repaired in my refrigerator.

On Friday Alicia and I went to the premier of Fat Pig at McKinney Avenue Contemporary (MAC). This is play is written by Neil LaBute who is also a screenwriter & movie director. Check out In The Company of Men and Your Friends And Neighbors for some very good movies he has done. The play is set around an office in a large metropolitan city in the US. There are four main characters actually there are only four characters in the play. The plot revolves around four characters. Three of them work for the same company. The main character (Tom) is a former techie now some sort of manager since he has his own office which is the setting for some of the play’s more interesting scenes. (more…)

Bank of America put a couple of holds on the deposits from the balance transfers. The first one expired on Friday so I put that money ($4,850.00) towards my HELOC. This payment dropped the balance of the HELOC to $259.34. On Tuesday the other hold from Bank of America (BOA) expired so I initiated a bill payment for the payoff amount of $262.92. Do not ask me how the payoff is $3.58 higher than balance. (more…)

I had a good weekend. It started late Thursday night (really Friday morning). I had a release for work that went till about 3am, but I had a Friday off which was nice. I slept in till 11 which felt good. I got up and ran some errands. I got my tires rotated at Discount Tire and got my car fixed. Toyota issued a recall on my car for a carpet clip. The dealership washed my car which was a nice touch. After that, I went had some coffee at Dunn Bros.

As I write this post, I am sitting at Dunn Bros in Addison. I love this place a lot more than your vanilla Starbucks. Their coffee is very good. Plus their prices are little cheaper than Starbucks, and you get a free coffee with a 25 gift card refill which I am totally down with. They also have three computers for their customers to use (running redhat no less), free WiFi (completely cool), and lots of cushy chairs (I think this is my favorite thing). Oh how do I love the cushy chairs. Normally I would be at work at this time, but we are doing a release tonight of which I get the pleasure of running tonight. These are not very fun, but at least they are a Thursday vs. Friday night at Countrywide. (more…)

Alicia and I went to see Muse last night. It was the second show in three days at Nextstage for us. We went to see Massive Attack on Sunday night. Here’s my review on that show. As I have said before I like the venue, but hate the parking fees (12 bucks) and very high drink prices. Anyway back to the subject at the hand. The Muse crowd was younger than I thought it was going to be. There were a lot of older high schoolers and college-age kids. I have one of their albums, Absolution. Muse has a total of five albums. Alicia and I had a pretty busy weekend. On Friday, we went had contemporary Indian cuisine at this place in Addison called Clay Pit. The food is good, but somewhat americanized. I assume this is the contemporary part of it. After that we went home got to bed fairly early since our week had been quite long and hectic. (more…)

Alicia and I are going The Gingerman today for their Oktoberfest beer tasting this afternoon. Then we are going to make the long drive up to McKinney to my step-sister’s house. My dad and stepmother made a short notice trip up here. Alicia has not met my dad yet. I hope it goes well. My sister, her husband and her daughter will be there too. Then tomorrow evening we are going to see Massive Attack. Unfortunately the meditation meetup event we were going to go to today got canceled. It probably worked for the best since Alicia has not been sleeping very well the past week. She got very little sleep last night so she is taking a nap right now. I will report back later with beer tasting later. Have a good weekend to everyone out there reading this.

I got the balance transfer checks deposited yesterday. I will transfer the funds to Fidelity on Tuesday after Bank of America releases the hold on the funds. I have spent a lot of time working on Quicken the past few months. I can say that my Quicken data has never looked this good. All of my accounts are now accurately presented in Quicken. In the past, Fidelity always gave me issues. I finally figured out why Quicken was getting out of synch with Fidelity. There were two places that Quicken and Fidelity were not jiving. (more…)
