My First Real Post On The New Blog

Welcome to my first real post at my now self-hosted blog. It is
powered by wordpress. I installed wordpress Friday evening and
restyled shaylogan.com to match the wordpress theme on Saturday. I
published the changes on Sunday so shaylogan.com 2.1 and the blog went
live on Sunday August 27, 2006.

Anyway, here is what has been going on with my life. Alicia is going
to move in officially at the end of September. This is a big step for
us. I know that it is the right move at the right time. I have never
felt like I feel towards her with anyone else. It is simply amazing.
I hope it continues to go as good has been going. We have been slowly
moving her stuff over.

On the work front, it is as crazy as usual. We made some pretty
dramatic changes to the print and finishing options module in the
application over the past few weeks. Those changes went to production last
week. It was interesting learning AJAX. It is nice to get a handle
on this newer technology. If anyone is interested they can check out
the application: https://printonline.fedexkinkos.com. It will be
nice when we are out of crisis mode at work, but I do not see that
happening anytime soon.

We went to see Little Miss Sunshine on Friday. Before the movie started we ran into Jen, who is a lady I used to date last year. It was kind of a funny moment. The
movie is really good. It brought some now humorous moments of my
childhood. I could so see us having to push start a car growing up.
The brother in the movie wore a shirt of big brother image which is also on the wall at The Amsterdam Bar here in Dallas. I highly recommend the movie and New Amsterdam.

On Saturday Alicia and I went to see The Groomsmen. It is an Edward
Burns’ movie which are usually really good. I have not seen Sidewalks
of New York yet. It’s somewhere in my netflix queue which is way too
big. The movie is good. Little Miss Sunshine was definitely the
better of the two, but it is enjoyable. Matthew Lillard did a really
good job. I really liked him in SLC Punk. The plot premise is Edward
Burns’ character is getting married and his friends and brother come
together since they are all groomsman. None of them have really grown
up even though they are in the mid-thirties. It’s good. There are
some tender moments. I would recommend seeing it.

On Sunday we went to yoga. It had been two weeks since we had been.
Wow, was the program hard. It really kicked my butt. I felt better
afterwards, but wow during the routine it was not so good. Alicia did a lot better at me.

I am looking forward to getting Monday off for Labor Day. We are
going to go down to my Mom’s house in Galveston for the weekend. I
went down there last year for Labor Day. Alicia has briefly met my
Mom and her husband when they passed through Dallas on the way to
Abilene. I hope we have a good trip down there.

I am looking forward to the upcoming shows we are going to. Massive
Attack and Muse are the ones that are coming up the soonest. I got
tickets to Gaelic Storm this weekend. I need to play Frank Black for
Alicia to see if she likes him. He is coming in October. I also got
tickets to see Demetri Martin who is a comedian. I love his segments
on The Daily Show. Check his segment on myspace:
http://danwho.net/mp/index.php?id=dailyshow_trendspotting_myspace .
It is way funny. We’ve also got Lyle Lovett coming and Cary Pierce.
Anyway that’s enough for now. I’ll post more tomorrow.
